Midnight Taxi
This was a group project was done as part of the Junior Collaborative Development module. In which there was a management structure of juniors(2nd years) and seniors(3rd years) for every discipline. I was a junior programmer and was given tasks to do by the senior programmers. I also wrote and voice acted for the project. We created a game called "Midnight Taxi" in which the player must drive npcs to their destination whilst making conversation with them.
Programming
This project was my first foray into unreal engine so in the beginning my seniors gave me quite rudimentary tasks including making a cube move along a spline and having a variable show up on UI. These tasks taught me a lot about the workings of unreal and I believe my two final programming tasks of an operatable glove compartment and air freshener that reacted to the speed of the car were implemented quite well.
Acting and Writing
In the final weeks of development when the game had mostly taken shape, the seniors asked if people wanted to do voice acting for the game. I said yes and sent in a small demo for the instructor part(the npc in the video demonstration) and got the role. I then recorded the lines written for the conversation tree, sometimes improvising over them when I saw fit. They were so impressed with my performance that they let me write and act in the radio segments needed for game.
